Very often we get messages about what Jacket, Pants and Base Layer pick when planning a late season hunt where you expect temperatures around 0ºF (-17ºC).
The first thing you have to determine is, are you planning on hiking or standing still on a tree stand? Same as you don't what to freeze, you don't want to wear something that is too bulky and warm when hiking that makes you sweat in excess.
Therefore, as a rule of thumb, we always suggest getting Late Season Vest and Jacket so that you can put on the jacket once you sit down but can wear just the vest to walk hike. When selecting the pants, is a completely different story because you don't want to hike with a heavy insulation pair of bibs in your backpack, so go for the Late Season pants ONLY if 50% or more of the hunt will be out of a tree stand or ambush blind. If you are planning on hiking, definitely pick the Mid Season pants. The SoftShell fabric of the Mid Season Pants will maintain your body temperature while allowing you legs be sweat free.
